Drapery Series #3: Accommodating Drapery Hardware

Drapery Series #3: Accommodating Drapery Hardware

When purchasing side panels or drapery in our shop, you will need to be sure you have the appropriate hardware for installation. Drapery rods and drapery rings are not included with purchase, but the drapery pins that are needed to hook to drapery rings do come already installed on the panels. Pin setting is 1/4" to accommodate rings. There are many different types of drapery rods available on the market. Regardless of the rod you choose, you will need to be sure the rod you purchase is wider than your window. We recommend a rod that extends at least 3" beyond the window casing on each side.

Drapery Series #4: Fabric Selection

Drapery Series #4: Fabric Selection

Fabrics for side panels in our shop are offered in two different fabric choices: Pacific Linen and Rosemary Linen. The workroom making these panels also offers a selection of solid silk fabrics and other linens in similar colorways. Because lighting in your own home can affect how these fabrics appear in person, we always recommend ordering a swatch prior to purchasing panels. Other fabrics can be selected for a custom request. Selecting a different fabric will extend the lead-time to ~5-6 weeks. To browse other available fabrics, click the vendor's link below. You can narrow your search by fabric pattern and color if necessary. We can request samples of your preferred fabrics be shipped to you from the vendor as well!

Drapery Series #2: How to Measure

Drapery Series #2: How to Measure

Regardless if you are choosing side panels or functional drapery, it is best to have a drapery rod already chosen and preferably hung before measuring. When selecting a drapery rod, keep in mind it should extend at minimum 3" beyond the window casing allowing additional space for the panels to cover a portion of the wall next to the window. For example, a window measuring 36" wide from outside of casing will need a drapery rod that measures at least 42" (36" + 3" on each side of window). To make the window appear wider than it is, consider extending the drapery rod 8-10" beyond the casing if the wall space allows it. For example, a window measuring 36" wide from outside of casing could use a drapery rod that measures 56" (36" + 10" on each side of window) in order for the window to appear larger.

Drapery Series #1: Side Panels versus Drapery

Drapery Series #1: Side Panels versus Drapery

There are two types of window treatments offered in our shop: side panels and drapery. Side panels are intended to be stationary and decorative, meaning they typically remain open and may not fully cover the window when closed. Drapery panels are intended to be functional so that when closed they cover the entire width of the window for privacy and light blocking.

Drapery Series #5: Adding Trim.

Drapery Series #5: Adding Trim.

Many clients prefer to add a decorative trim along the leading edge. This is a great way to enhance the drapery, and it offers a more custom finish! We do offer trim application to finished panels, but this is only available for those able to pickup directly from our workroom (Greater Jackson, MS area).

Double-sided: When It Matters.

Double-sided: When It Matters.

Custom pillows in our shop are offered as "single-sided" or "double-sided." For single-sided pillows, a natural solid fabric is used on the back for a more economical style. For double-sided pillows, the same designer fabric is used on the front and back, which can make the pillow more expensive. Double-sided pillows offer the most custom finish. With this style, there is no "front" and "back" that requires the pillow to be facing a certain way. And when the pattern allows it, the pattern will match at the seam providing a seamless finish to your pillow. For large pattern repeats or more whimsical patterns, this pattern match may not be possible, but choosing double-sided still provides the most designer look to your decor.
